The new aspirants for our community

by Fr. Martin Mary, FI

The Solemnity of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels of the Portiuncula on August 2 marked the beginning of the stage of Junior Aspirancy in our community in Kerala.

It was on this day that new young brothers consecrated themselves to the Immaculata by a simple act of consecration. This simple ceremony cast a “flashback” of the first community of friars led by our Holy Father St. Francis in the actual chapel of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels of the Portiuncula. His official biographer, Brother Thomas of Celano wrote about this:

Fr. Martin's arrival at Trivandrum International airport

by Fr. Martin Mary, FI

It is my second time to come over to Kerala, India and yet it feels like I am starting the mission all over again. Having left the United States after being busy with parish missions, retreats and pro-active initiatives in our Marian Friary in New Bedford, I found myself boarding a plane bound for Trivandrum, Kerala, India.

This southern part of India, though the inhabitants are mostly Christians in comparison with other Indian cities, still bears the mark of a uniquely ethnic Indians: food, clothing, customs, weather. It certainly demanded a “three hundred sixty degrees” of cultural adjustment from the point of view of where I came from.

Work tools of Fr. Martin

by Fr. Martin Mary, FI

Ihave been in the "trade" of website making since 1996 when I started doing the official site of the Franciscans of the Immaculate in the United States MaryMediatrix.

Since then, I started making other sites of our Institute in the English speaking: MissioMariae.net (missionary site), AusMaria (Australian site), Radio CorMariae (Radio website of our community in New Bedford), Sisters' site in USA. Now I just finished our official website in India, IndiaMariae.com.
